Mr. Electric owner reveals that he became an electrician after having a pretty terrible experience and didn’t want people to have to go through the same
PETERBOROUGH, Cambridgeshire, PE1 5PP (Date ##, 2016) – The electrical services franchise, Mr. Electric, has recently launched in the Hammersmith & Richmond area. The owner has had a long history in management and running various businesses, but a few years ago he decided to become a registered electrician and run his own business.
His career began with a degree in Business Administration, and then another degree in Management Accounting, two qualifications that would set him up to be a fantastic manager and business owner. Whilst he was studying, he looked for a part-time job and he found one as a cashier at Ladbrokes.
During his time as a part-time cashier, Ladbrokes started a scheme called ‘Ideas From You’, which let any employees send ideas to head office to be reviewed by the company. He sent off some ideas and designs which ended up being reviewed at board level, after which they offered him a place in their graduate programme. This graduate opportunity led to the financial operations branch of the company and he had the task of turning struggling stops into successful ones.
This carried on for a little while where he looked after as many as twenty stores at a time, transforming them from failing stores into thriving businesses. He was then head-hunted by Paddy Power and did a similar role in which he opened new stores and looked after them and made sure they became successful businesses.
However, after some years of doing this, he wanted to slow down and take some more time away from work to have a better work-life balance. After getting married and having two children, he didn’t want to be working late anymore and wanted less stress, so he looked into opening his own business.
At the same time, he was also in the process of getting his kitchen renovated, meaning that he had to get a lot of electrical work completed. When he was trying to book in time for electricians to do the work, he was being told that there would be waits of over three weeks. He then found an electrician that could do the work immediately for him, so he booked him to do the whole kitchen.
However, he quickly came to realise that the electrician was in fact not registered to do the work he was and a lot of what he was doing wasn’t following regulations and was completely unsafe. It was too late once he realised as the work had already been done, but he knew that so many others would not realise and could be living in unsafe conditions simply because an unregistered electrician wanted to earn some money.
As he had a family to look after, and he knew many other people would be the exact same and not realise, he decided he wanted to become an electrician so that he could make sure that people were receiving the right level of service by a fully qualified professional.
As he is now a fully qualified electrician, his main ambition for his business is to do a proper job and to not cut corners. He wants to make sure that his business doesn’t compromise safety, adhere to all regulations and wants to provide the highest level of customer service. This attitude towards his business and his customers is a real promise for success, and the team at Mr. Electric is thrilled to support him through his journey.
